High-profile chefs Nathan Eades and Liam Goff will launch a second Cotswolds pub later this month following the success of The Halfway at Kineton.

In Bourton on the Hill, The Horse and Groom will repeat the pair’s formula of serving ‘exceptional food in a relaxed atmosphere’ with a focus on hearty, seasonal dishes.

Eades and Goff taking on the pub follows its recent acquisition by Donnington Brewery, which also owns the The Halfway at Kineton.

Relaunched by the pair 18 months ago, The Halfway at Kineton is currently ranked at 54 on the Top 50 Gastropubs list.

“The Horse and Groom has been the bastion of North Cotswolds pub scene for many years, and we are both thrilled, ridiculously excited and somewhat pinching ourselves to be the new custodians of such a much-loved pub,” the pair say.

“We want to create a pub that our locals love and the tourists dream of having on their doorstep. We cannot wait to open the doors, (and our kitchen!) and welcome everyone new and old.”

Eades and Goff met at The Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver, Canada. Eades returned to the UK to hold senior roles in a number of top kitchens including Simpson’s in Birmingham while Goff rose to chef de cuisine at The Wedgewood Hotel.

The pair joined forces again at Lady Bamford’s highly-rated Cotswolds pub The Wild Rabbit.

Following his time at The Wild Rabbit, Eades worked briefly as executive chef at The Montagu Arms in the New Forest before launching The Halfway at Kineton with Goff early last year.
