British tasting menu restaurant The Water House project will close its doors at the end of June. The restaurant, which opened on Bethnal Green’s Corbridge Crescent in 2021 after evolving from Waterhouse’s acclaimed supper club and pop-up concept, announced the decision in a letter to its customers.
The team said the closure coincided with the natural end of the site’s lease and marks ‘the right moment to turn the page’.

Adam Byatt’s and Spencer Metzger’s upcoming restaurants and a decline in fast-food and casual dining restaurant traffic are among this week’s top news stories. - The chef-owner of Michelin-starred Trinity, Adam Byatt, announced he will be opening Rosina, a new Italian-inspired restaurant in Wandsworth. Expected to open in the summer, the restaurant marks Byatt’s first neighbourhood project in over 10 years and his maiden venture into Italian cuisine. Named after his daughter, Rosie, the restaurant will include a main dining room, a stand-alone bar, a terrace, and a private dining room which will feature its own terrace. Open seven days a week, the space will seat 50 guests, with space for an additional 25 on the terrace, and the menu will focus on quality produce, wines, and recipes from across Italy, alongside ingredients sourced from the UK. Several of Byatt’s existing team members, from both the front and back of house, are set to join the restaurant, ‘keeping his characteristic neighbourhood style at the heart of this new opening’.

The top line: 130 Primrose is a charity-status restaurant that has taken over the site previously occupied by Home Kitchen Diner, the organisation’s first venture, and builds on its social-impact fine dining model by continuing to use hospitality as a pathway into employment for people with experience of homelessness. The restaurant offers paid six-month contracts in both front-of-house and kitchen roles, providing accredited training such as Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness certifications alongside hands-on experience in a professional kitchen.
Dana Choi, head chef at Jang, reflects on bringing Korean cuisine to a wider audience through Great British Menu and her approach to modern Korean cooking rooted in tradition and British produce. Dana Choi has built her career on a foundation of traditional Korean technique and refined London kitchen experience. Born in Gwangju, South Korea, she trained in classical Korean cuisine before moving to London, where she worked in acclaimed kitchens, including The Square under Phil Howard and Jinjuu Soho with Judy Joo. She is now head chef at Jang Restaurant in the Royal Exchange, leading a contemporary Korean and Japanese menu shaped by technical precision and her Korean heritage.
Selected to represent London on Great British Menu, Choi brought her culinary perspective to week seven of the competition’s 21st season, which aired on 7 April. Built around a theme honouring British films and filmmakers, the series challenged contestants to translate the storytelling and cultural legacy of British cinema into original dishes. While her journey concluded during the heats stage, one of her creations, Seabream Mulhoe - inspired by the film Notting Hill - now features on the Jang menu.

Independent food traders in KERB’s network generated £38.9m in revenue in 2025 despite mounting pressures on the hospitality sector. The figures, published in KERB’s latest Impact Report, reflect a growth of 18.9% year-on-year which, according to the business, was driven by access to consistent trading opportunities, shared infrastructure and business support.
This comes as the wider hospitality sector faces sustained pressure from rising rents, labour costs and VAT, as well as limited policy support.
