Brothers Liam and Ellis Barrie are to relaunch their award-winning Anglesey restaurant The Marram Grass this summer under the name Y Marram.

The site will initially reopen as an events space, beginning with a guest chef series, before moving to a ‘daily offering’.

Announcing the opening on Instagram, Liam said: “Over the next couple of weeks I will tell you more about what’s happening over there and what we have lined up.

“For now, all I’m going to say is we’re going to launch a space with events and move quickly into a daily offering.”

The brothers originally launched The Marram Grass in 2011 in an abandoned chicken shed on a caravan park owned by their parents.

The restaurant, which held two AA Rosettes and recommended in the Michelin Guide, closed in 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the time the brothers suggested the restaurant might return in the future.

The brothers are currently looking to put together a core team to deliver the events, as well as part-time and ad-hoc event teams to compliment the delivery.

Y Marram’s guest chef series will launch in June with a meal cooked by Romy Gill. Further evenings are planned in August with Tony Singh, Adam Reid and Jeremy Pang all set to feature.

The Barrie brothers also previously operated Lerpwl in Liverpool, which closed in March last year after three years of trading.
