The Criterion Restaurant reopens
Marco Pierre Whites former Piccadilly Circus restaurant re-opens under new owner Georgian millionaire Irakli Sopromadze

Marco Pierre White`s former Piccadilly restaurant The Criterion has officially been reopened by its new Georgian owner Irakli Sopromadze.

The restaurant, set within a Grade II listed building, has undergone a `gentle and sympathetic` refurbishment to highlight some of the the building`s grand features since Sopromadze`s company Vox Restaurants took over the lease from White earlier this year.

Restaurant manager is Simon Wilson-White and Matthew Foxon, previously of The Rosendale, has been employed as head chef and has created an `all-encompassing` menu using ingredients sourced from the British Isles.

The menu is divided into sections under the titles: Soups, Crustacea, Starters, Main Courses, Grills, Pastas, Egg Dishes and Desserts with a set menu available at lunch, pre and post theatre priced at £18 for two courses and £23 for three courses.

Dishes include Gloucester Old Spot pigs head roulade, sauce gribich, tomato relish, Wild Cornish sea bass, langoustine, confit tomatoes and Malva pudding, creme anglaise, amarula ice cream.

The restaurant`s Long Bar is also open for drinks and will serve wine, cocktails and bar snacks.

The Criterion is the first investment by Sopromadze in the UK and is believed to be his first restaurant venture.
