CompareTheMarket moves into the restaurant sector
Meerkat-fronted price comparison website CompareTheMarket is moving into the restaurant sector with a reward scheme powered by discount dining platform Tastecard.

Meerkat Meals will launch in July, and - like Tastecard – will offer two-for-one meals at major UK chains.

Customers who use the CompareTheMarket website to buy insurance or switch their energy provider will receive a year’s membership to Meerkat Meals and Meerkat Movies.

Restaurants currently on the Tastecard platform include Pizza Hut; Prezzo; Giraffe; Ask; Zizzi; and Strada, with more expected to join over the coming months.

Restaurants taking part in the scheme are expected to benefit from increased footfall from CompareTheMarket’s six million customers.

They will also be provided with a variety of in-restaurant branding options to drive awareness of the scheme, attracting people to CompareTheMarket.

Customers will be able to use Meerkat Meals discounts for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Sunday to Thursday every week. Up to six diners can receive two-for-one starters, mains and desserts by showing their membership details on the Meerkat Meals app at the point of payment.

Tastecard is part of the Dining Club Group, the largest dining club in the world, with over four million members across three dining discount card schemes in the UK and ROI: tastecard, Gourmet Society and hi-life.

It aims to support restaurants by encouraging people to dine out more often, and to help members by making dining out more affordable.

Over the last three years, Meerkat Movies has rewarded customers with over 10 million free cinema tickets and the app has been downloaded over three million times.
