Australian-founded ‘farm to table’ concept Butcher and the Farmer is to make its European debut at the ICON Outlet shopping centre at London’s The O2 in September.

Founded by chefs Steve Flood and Will Stewart, who won competitive Aussie cookery show My Kitchen Rules in 2015, the opening is hoped to be the first of many for the pair outside of Australia

Flood and Stewart launched their first Butcher and the Farmer site in Sydney’s Tramsheds shopping mall in 2016.

With a focus on shared dining, the pair have ‘curated a menu with simple and honest ingredients sourced directly from farmers and providers’.

Set over 6,996 sq ft, the restaurant will have 266 covers with the menu set to feature the likes of chargrilled chicken; smashed avocado hummus with corn tortillas; and pumpkin with feta, currants, and a quinoa and spinach salad.

“The London dining scene is an impressive, eclectic market – a place we have always envisaged our unique brand flourishing,” says Flood.

“For our first restaurant in Europe, we wanted a popular location with huge potential and the developing area of North Greenwich in one of the most well-visited capitals in Europe, ticked the box for us.”

Other operators to recently open restaurants within The O2’s ICON Outlet include US-founded plant-based brand By Chloe, chicken wing specialist Thunderbird, and Mexican format Benito’s Hat.
