BEAR by Carlo Scotto will open in spring next year and is described as pushing ‘the boundaries of creativity and taste’, while prioritising responsible sourcing.
The restaurant will have an open and offer counter dining and will serve a tasting menu that takes a farm-to-plate philosophy, and which will take in Nordic, Asian and Arabic flavours.
Sotto led the kitchen a high-end Mayfair restaurant Amethyst, which opened in 2022 but closed a year later. At the time he said he was going to take short break to consider my options “to ensure my next role that allows me to continue to showcase my passion for fine dining and commitment to delivering some of the best food in the UK”.
Prior to Amethyst, Scotto worked under Angela Hartnett at Murano in Mayfair and also at Galvin La Chapelle in Spitalfields and Babbo in Mayfair.
He launched his first solo restaurant, Xier, in Marylebone in 2018, but it closed in late 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
BEAR by Carlo Scotto will open in tandem with ongoing renovations across both of Crazy Bear’s two UK properties in Beaconsfield and Stadhampton.
