Gordon Ramsay at 22 Bishopsgate

Gordon Ramsay’s statement of intent finally opens its various doors this month within the tallest building in the City of London. The new venues include Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay, the fourth location of his Asian-inspired brand; a Lucky Cat Bar; and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High, a 12-seat chef’s table experience of his flagship three Michelin-starred Chelsea restaurant. Located on level 60 of the building, Lucky Cat is a 120-seat restaurant that will have an open sushi bar and diner-facing hot kitchen while Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High will serve reimagines dishes from the original Royal Hospital Road restaurant with a modern twist.

3 Gorges

Hubei and Cantonese restaurant 3 Gorges opens in the middle of this month on London’s Goodge Street. The 80-cover venue will be led by chef Qian, former head chef at Michelin-starred Gouqi and will serve a wide range of dishes such as three coloured xiaolongbao; braised seafood soup; crispy fried oysters; miso spicy east wind snails; eight treasure gourd duck; spicy beef shank; and Beijing Peking duck.

The Knave of Clubs

The Camberwell Arms co-owner James Dye and former JKS Restaurants Director of Strategic Projects Benjy Leibowitz are teaming up to revive The Knave of Clubs pub in Shoreditch. Set to launch at the end of next month, The Knave will offer a menu overseen by culinary director Patrick Powell, formerly of Midland Grand Dining Room and Allegra.

The Camberwell Arms co-owner James Dye and former JKS Restaurants director of strategic projects Benjy Leibowitz have joined forces to revive The Knave of Clubs pub in Shoreditch. Billed as a proper pub ‘where guests can come for pints and crisps, or stay for a relaxed lunch or dinner’, the kitchen is being headed up by culinary director Patrick Powell, formerly of The Midland Grand Dining Room and Allegra, so expect some very decent pub grub indeed. Get your fix from 20 February.

The Beach House Falmouth

Tamara Costin and William Speed open their clifftop seafood restaurant and bar this month. Menus will focus on local, sustainably sourced seafood such as crab and lobster caught just eight miles down the coast; Falmouth Bay scallops; and daily fish specials from Newlyn market. The redeveloped space will take inspiration from the laid-back vibes of Ibiza, with DJs on the terrace planned for the summer months. There are then further plans in winter to extend the site, adding more covers.

Oorja

The second London restaurant project for Gobind Chona’s Starwins Group, Oorja is a two-floor Indian restaurant opening on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue. Open from breakfast through to dinner a la Dishoom, early morning menu items will include egg burji on toast; and a sawera kebab platter with chicken tikka and lamb kebab with saffron rice, grilled tomato and fried egg, while later on diners can tuck into Indian-style fire spatchcock chicken; and railway curry of lamb leg.

Senza Fondo

Former Hawksmoor and Drake & Morgan employee Joe Worthington will launch an all-you-can-eat lasagna restaurant in Shoreditch next month. Set within a former Rossopomodoro site on Rufus Street, Senza Fondo translates as ‘without end’ and will serve unlimited lasagna for £20 a head alongside an la carte menu of Italian-American comfort food.

Carb lovers rejoice - Shoreditch will this month become home to an all-you-can-eat lasagna restaurant. The brainchild of former Hawksmoor and Drake & Morgan employee Joe Worthington, Senza Fondo will serve unlimited lasagna for £20 a head alongside an a la carte menu of Italian-American comfort food, such as fettuccine alfredo; aubergine parmigiana; lasagna pizzette; and grilled wing rib on the bone with beef jus and apple mostarda. In April a lunchtime hatch will launch offering Senza Fondo’s proprietary lasagna sandwich, the ‘Lasangwich’

Crunch

Deluxe sandwich concept Crunch is to open its first bricks and mortar site next month in London’s Soho

London’s sandwich game has never been stronger, and this month its ranks will swell even further with the deluxe sandwich brand Crunch’s is first bricks and mortar site. Located on the corner of Dean Street and Old Compton Street, the shop will serve a rotating range of sandwiches made with house made brioche that will include the patty melt; katsu sando; and the umami ‘shroomwich’. It’s Crunch time from 27 February.

Alba

This new Brompton Road restaurant is promising to bring a slice of the Italian coast to Knightsbridge with a regularly changing seasonal menu of classic Italian south coast cuisine. Staples of the menu will be risotto con gambero and saffron; Sicilian carpacci gamberorRossi di Mazara, tagliatelle with white Alba truffle, and a panettone tiramisu, a twist on the classic Italian dessert. Alba’s striking dining room comes courtesy of architecture studio YODEZEEN and will feature real citrus trees; a handmade Venetian floor; and bespoke furniture.

Chinatown’s Wardour Street welcomes the second London outpost of this modern Asian bistro. As the name suggests, Noodle & Beer majors Sichuan comfort food, focusing on noodle-based dishes such as xian jian niu rou main, stir-fried beef slices with three types of fresh chilli; and tian-shui mian, handmade thick udon noodles served with a sweet and spicy sauce accompanied by a decent selection of local and Asian beers.

Dough Hands

The chef behind Hackney’s Dough Hands is stretching her reach with a further pub residency south of the river.

Pizza chef Hannah Drye is heading to The Old Nun’s Head in Nunhead for a pop-up where she will serve her almost New York style pizza. Options will include squash with stracciatella with pickled scotch bonnet and sage brown butter; and aubergine ragu with scamorza, oregano and garlic breadcrumbs. Drye’s residency will kick off at the pub from 13 February.

The newest outpost of the growing pasta restaurant group will feature pizza on its menu for the first time. Set to open in Covent Garden, its exclusive ‘pizza in rutiello’ menu will honour the homestyle cooking of Napoli nonnas with pizzas served in a rutiello pan at the table. Available in small and larger sizes, they have been designed to complement the restaurant’s signature pasta menu with toppings changing seasonally. Pasta will remain a focal point, however, with small plates including fried raviolo filled with cacio e pepe; and panko lasagna with truffle, aged provolone and aioli and starters such as buffalo burrata; and aubergine parmigiana featuring on the menu.

Camino Victoria

Tapas bar and restaurant group Camino will reopen the Iberica restaurant in London’s Victoria under its own brand later this month. Set over two levels, the site will comprise a 38-cover ground floor bar and a 100-cover restaurant on the first floor as well as a 48- cover terrace that will open in warmer months. The ground floor space will operate as a café by day and a bar by night and will have a large drinks offer that will showcase wines from some notable bodegas and a range of exceptional 30-year old sherries.
