Lee Skeet has closed his Cardiff restaurant Jackson’s after just two years.

The chef says the closure follows a spate of break-ins at the restaurant, which is located in the city’s Duke Street Arcade.

Writing on Instagram, Skeet says he has been dealing with a serious illness and needed to take some time out to recover.

“I’ve had to make the very tough decision to close Jackson’s for the time being on our second anniversary,” he says.

“I’ve been dealing with a serious illness which I’ve been keeping secret for the last year or so, and I’ve been struggling for a while. I need to take some time out to recover, heal from my injuries and focus on my family.

I’ve dealt with so much drama this year. Lost loved ones, had so many court cases and break ins and situations I didn’t want to be in. Time for some peace. My heart isn’t in it anymore.”

According to Skeet, Jackson’s has been broken into eight times in 2025. The most recent burglary occurred earlier this month with the theft of the restaurant’s sound system as well as an irreplaceable signed photograph of former UFC fighter Leon Edwards.

The chef says that Jackson’s will reopen in a new location ‘as soon as possible’, led by bar manager Bryn Bach.

Skeet will continue to run his restaurant Cora, which is located above Jackson’s at Duke Street Arcade and which is named after his daughter.
