Safaei, who operates Italian restaurants 40 Dean Street and 64 Old Compton Street, will launch 27 Old Compton Street on 24 March.
The concept will be ‘rooted in the tradition of tavola calda’, meaning ‘hot table’, with 30 covers available and a walk-ins-only policy.
“The concept of ‘tavola calda’ instantly resonated with me,” says Safaei.
“I wanted to create that spot for fast, high-quality food that doesn’t compromise on taste or flavour.
“27 Old Compton Street will bring a slice of ‘la dolce vita’ to London and be a place where people can drop in effortlessly, knowing they’ll get incredible pasta, fab drinks and a buzzing atmosphere.”
The menu will feature pasta dishes such as rigatoni amatriciana with pancetta and chillies; pumpkin, ricotta and sage ravioli; and paccheri puttanesca with tiger prawns
Other options will include gnocchi with cavolo nero and pesto; and pea risotto with broad beans and asparagus.
Drinks will range of Italian wine to cocktails including a pomodoro piccante, an Italian take on a spicy Bloody Mary.
“I’m delighted to be adding another string to my bow as a restaurateur and to embark on this challenge,” continues Safaei.
“It’s a totally different space to my other two sites - but one that still feels undeniably Soho. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to 27 Old Compton Street.”
Safei, who lives as well as works in Soho, opened his first restaurant, 40 Dean Street, in 2009.
His second restaurant, 64 Old Compton Street, launched in the summer of 2023.
