Alex Dilling and Oli Marlow joining the line-up at Fulham FC’s The Gourmet restaurant and US seafood chain Captain D’s coming to the UK lead this week’s top news stories.

- Chefs Alex Dilling and Oli Marlow have joined the line-up at Fulham FC’s The Gourmet restaurant within its upcoming Riverside stand. The pair will be part of a rotating roster of top chefs that will help set ‘a new benchmark for Premier League dining’. Set to launch ahead of the 2026 football season, The Gourmet restaurant will offer the club’s supporters ‘world-class gastronomic delights, with rotating chef stations and cuisine themes that reflect the expertise and flair of the top-tier team’.

- US fast-casual seafood restaurant brand Captain D’s will open its first UK site this summer having signed a master franchise agreement with CD’s Holdings. The first Captain D’s will open in Kent in August, with sites in Sussex and Hampshire set to launch soon after. Captain D’s, which was founded in 1969 and has more than 530 restaurants across 23 US states, has signed a 20-unit agreement with CD’s Holdings.

- Tom Brown’s restaurant at London’s The Capital Hotel will be tasting menu-only offering a range of price points from £80 to £165. Launching on 10 April, Tom Brown at The Capital will showcase the ‘finest’ ingredients through the high profile chef’s ‘innovative techniques and bold flavour’. At dinner, the Knightsbridge restaurant will offer a 12-course menu for £125 and a 14-course menu for £165. At lunchtimes the restaurant will offer eight courses for £80 and 10 courses for £100.

- Geoffrey and Katherine Smeddle have put their Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms The Peat Inn in Fife on the market. The couple have owned and operated the modern Scottish restaurant since 2006, and it was awarded a Michelin star in 2010. The venue, which was built in the 18th century, comprises three dining rooms that serve around 50 covers in total as well as eight luxury letting suites.

- Much-loved Hackney pub The Gun in Homerton has closed, with its owners citing rising costs as the reason. Nick Stephens, Hanna Sinclair-Stephens and Oliver Dixon opened The Gun on Well Street in Hackney in June 2014 after an extensive renovation that retained many of the building’s original Victorian features from 1860. The pub had hosted kitchen residencies over the years including Ling Ling’s, which built a loyal following for its Chinese food and Sunday roasts, and modern British restaurant Rake, led by Jay Claus, Peter Ward, and Syrus Pickhaver. It was also known for is programme of DJ-led events.
