As reported by MCA, Restaurant‘s sister site, Piper’s investment will help Yard Sale expand further across London and into new cities, with a goal of reaching 40 sites in five years.
A recent project with CACI identified the potential for over 500 UK locations in total.
The partnership will also support further technology investment to enhance the brand’s customer experience, alongside continued innovation in collaborations and partnerships.
Yard Sale co-founders Johnnie Tate and Nick Buckland, who launched the brand back in 2013, will continue to lead the business alongside chair Paul Campbell, who has worked closely with the group over recent years.
“We are excited to be entering this new era for Yard Sale with Piper’s investment,” says Tate.
“Since we first met, Piper’s understanding, enthusiasm and shared vision for the business has been clear. Piper have a proven track record in scaling exceptional brands and I am delighted to be partnering with them for our next phase of growth.
“As we continue to obsess over delivering the very best pizzas, this partnership will allow us to reach even more local neighbourhoods across London and the UK.”
The deal, which completed on Friday (4 April) for an undisclosed sum, marks Piper’s sixth investment from its seventh fund, having backed brands including Flat Iron, Loungers, Hickory’s Smokehouse, Be At One, Turtle Bay, and Las Iguanas.
Advising on the deal were CMS (legal for Piper), Trowers & Hamlins (legal for Yard Sale Pizza), HaysMac (tax for Yard Sale Pizza) and DSW (corporate finance for Yard Sale Pizza).
“We’ve been tracking Yard Sale for some time, and the consistent love for the brand from customers was impossible to ignore,” says Yasha Estraikh, associate partner at Piper, who led the deal and will be joining as non-executive director.
“The calibre of their collaborators and their standout site metrics show just how special this brand is. We’re excited to work with the team to scale Yard Sale’s winning formula – delivering delicious pizza for everyday sharing moments via a memorable delivery experience to neighbourhoods across the UK.
“It’s already well on its way to becoming a brand legend.”
Yard Sale Pizza currently operates 14 sites across north, east and south London.
The group, which notably operates its own in-house fleet of e-bike delivery drivers rather than use a third party platform, reported turnover of £13m for the year ending April 2025.
