Located next door to Ed Wilson and Josie Stead’s highly-rated local restaurant Sargasso, Pom on The Pier will encompass a kiosk restaurant and wine bar with outdoor terrace seating for up to 30 covers.
Initially open from Friday to Sunday, with longer opening hours planned over the summer months, the concept is described as ‘very much wine-focused’ with a wine list created by Pomus founder Ryan Jacovides and a selection of bar snacks created by head chef Aaron Costen.
There will also be a collection of classic summer cocktails such as the POM rum punch, and local craft beers.
Jacovides, a former MD at the Jamie Oliver Group, launched Pomus last year in Margate’s The Centre retail hub.
The restaurant originally opened with chef Tony Rodd leading the kitchen, but he subsequently left to launch his own venture in Broadstairs.
Costen took over from Rodd and oversees Pomus’s monthly changing menu of seasonal sharing plates.
Dishes set to feature on the Pom on The Pier menu include corn ribs, agave yoghurt and fermented chilli; fritto misto with squid aioli; and chicken karaage with maple syrup and togarashi, a signature dish at Pomus.
