Motcombs Tavern taking over the former Pollen Street Social site, Jeremy King’s ‘night owl’ discount, and a new project from Glynn Purnell were among this week’s most read stories.

- Jason Atherton has closed his Mary’s restaurant, which took over the site in London’s Mayfair that previously housed his Pollen Street Social flagship, after less than a year of trading. The restaurant has been acquired by the team behind Motcombs in St John’s Wood and will reopen later this year as Motcombs Tavern.

- The alleged fraudster at the centre of the recent Netflix documentary Con Mum has been charged in Singapore. According to the BBC, alleged victims of Dionne Marie Hanna filed police reports after watching the documentary, which aired last month and details how high-profile pastry chef Graham Hornigold was supposedly duped into funding the 84-year-old’s jet-setting lifestyle.

- Jeremy King has introduced a discount for late night diners across both his London restaurants in a bid to encourage people to re-acquaint themselves with eating dinner after 9pm. Diners who book from 9:15pm (9pm on Sundays) at The Park and 9:45pm (9pm on Sundays) at Arlington will receive 25% off the total bill until 30 December.

- Glynn Purnell is opening a small plates restaurant and wine bar in Birmingham this summer in partnership with wine merchant Loki Wines. The Birmingham-based chef is joining forces with Loki Wines’ founder Phil Innes for the new venture, which is due to open in the Snow Hill area of the city in August.

- Yard Sale Pizza has received investment from investor Piper. Piper’s investment will help the pizza group expand further across London and into new cities, with a goal of reaching 40 sites in five years. The partnership will also support further technology investment to enhance the brand’s customer experience, alongside continued innovation in collaborations and partnerships.
