Expected to open next month, Norbert’s will take over the former Il Mirto site on Melbourne Grove.
Ogier is best known as the co-founder of Shoreditch restaurant Lyle’s, which he launched with chef James Lowe in 2014.
In 2021 he stepped away from Lyle’s and its now-defunct sister restaurant Flor, and later went on to launch Lasdun at the National Theatre with the team behind Hackney pub The Marksman.
Coghlan, meanwhile, previously cooked at Lyle’s and most recently worked at Hackney restaurant Planque, which is currently ranked at number 97 on the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 list.
Speaking to Hot Dinners, Ogier described the concept for Norbert’s as ‘super delicious chicken at a price point that works’.
“I’ve been planning this in my head for a long time,” he said.
“After doing something like Lasdun, I felt that I wanted to do something more local.”
The menu at Norbert’s will focus on rotisserie chicken that’s cooked in a proprietary, ‘top secret’ rub and served with a selection of sides including salads and rotisserie potatoes.
Other dishes set to feature include popcorn sweetbreads; chicken liver pate and brioche; and salt cod brandade.
Alongside this will be a drinks menu that includes a small selection of wines and cocktails including pina colada, pisco sour, and a house margarita with a chicken skin salt rim.
The restaurant will hold around 20 covers and feature a playlist of 70s, 80s and 90s music.
“I’m not cool or trying to be cool,” Ogier added.
“We’re just trying to be welcoming. This is somewhere you can come in for lunch with your kids, or later with your friends and have a bottle of wine.”
