Venezuelan restaurant brand Arepa & Co has opened its fourth London site in Elephant Park.

Adding to the group’s current estate, which includes outposts in Haggerston, Bethnal Green and Brixton, the new opening marks the group’s first location south of the river.

As with its other sites, the Elephant Park restaurant focuses on arepas, a traditional flat corn bread that’s toasted, cut open and filled with meats, pulses and dairy.

Alongside this the main menu features cachapas, traditional sweetcorn pancakes; yuca chips; and tequeños, a puff pastry snack filled with cheese and guava.

Dedicated breakfast options are also available such as pastelitos, Venezuelan pastries filled with meat and served with an apple salsa verde.

Arepa & Co is led by Ernesto Moreno and Kathe Cunin, and opened its first restaurant in Haggerston in 2014.

“We are so excited to bring Arepa & Co to London’s centre of Latin American culture, Elephant Park,” says Moreno.

“This location feels like the perfect place to open our flagship restaurant.”

The new restaurant has space for 70 covers and features banquette seating, hanging plants, and terracotta tiling.

There are also shelves exhibiting produce imported straight from Venezuela including maize flour and rum, which are available for retail.
