Called Barbarella, the restaurant will be housed within the YY Building and feature a design of ‘sexy vintage Ferragamo silks and glitzy details’ with a mirrored glass bar, reflective 70s chromed lounge and an open kitchen.
Roma-born chef Marco Rastelli will lead the food offering and serve a menu featuring a daily changing pizza selection; pasta dishes including a ‘one-metre long spaghettone’; Cornish lemon sole to share; and Phillip Warren steaks.
Drinks will include Big Mamma’s ‘biggest-ever cocktail menu’ and its ‘most extensive wine list yet’.
Restaurant reported last month that Big Mamma was understood to be opening a site in Canary Wharf.
According to Hot Dinners, the group is also eyeing a location in the City.
Alongside the growth of its London estate, the group is also expanding its reach both nationally and internationally.
It comes after private equity company McWin took a majority stake in the business back in 2023.
This summer Big Mamma will make its Manchester debut with the opening of its second Circolo Popolare restaurant in the UK.
It follows on from the launch of La Bellezza in Birmingham at the end of last year and will mark the first time the French-based Italian restaurant group has replicated one of its brands in the UK since arriving in 2019.
Additionally, the group, which has sites across mainland Europe, is also looking to open a restaurant in the US, with the state of Florida the current front runner
Speaking to Restaurant earlier this year, Big Mamma co-founder Tigrane Seydoux said more than half of Big Mamma’s 28 restaurants are bespoke, and that the group will continue to create new concepts as well as roll out some of its existing brands as part of its expansion plans.
