London-based street food brand Black Bear Burger will open its biggest restaurant to date and its first within a major retail and leisure destination next week at Westfield London.

The group has secured the former Salt Yard site on Arial way for its third full-service restaurant and its eighth location overall in the capital.

Holding 100 covers, it will be more than double the size of Black Bear’s restaurants in Exmouth Market and Brixton.

The group describes the opening as ‘an opportunity to reach a broader customer base’.

“Opening at Westfield is a real pinch yourself moment,” says Stew Down, who launched Black Bear Burger with his wife Liz as a street food stall in 2016.

“We have spent the last eight years building this brand from the ground up and we are still fully independent. This new restaurant is a huge step forward and we cannot wait to extend our offering to people in the White City area.”

Black Bear Burger’s ethos is ‘simple, done well’, with the group committed to only using grass fed, dry-aged British beef.

Signature dishes set to feature on the Westfield menu include the miso bacon burger, which was recently named Best Burger in the UK at the National Burger Awards 2025; the eponymous Black Bear burger made with beef, cheese, bacon, onion jam, and garlic mayo; brisket spring rolls; and the Welsh rarebit crumpet.

There will also be new additions such as the off menu stuffed chicken wing with blue cheese sauce and fermented chilli hot sauce.

Drink options will include Guinness on draught; and barrel-aged negronis.

To celebrate the launch, the first 200 bookings made online for Black Bear Burger Westfield will receive 50% off their burger during the first week of opening.

Alongside the group’s full-service restaurants, the group operates several kiosks within food halls across London including Market Halls and Boxpark.

Black Bear Burger Westfield will open on Monday 21 April.
