Dishoom is to open a second restaurant north of the border this summer in central Glasgow.

The Indian restaurant group has secured a site in the former stock exchange on Nelson Mandela Place, agreeing a 20-year lease for a unit that will occupy 7,000sq ft across the ground and basement floors of the listed building.

John Menzies, director of the retail team at Savills Scotland, which confirmed the deal, said: “Agreed off market, this is another fantastic deal for Glasgow and is testament to its popularity as a key food & beverage (F&B) location.”

Glasgow will be Dishoom’s second outpost in Scotland.

The group, which was founded in 2010, made its Scottish debut on St Andrew Square in Edinburgh in 2017.

Last week it was reported that Dishoom is also preparing to open a restaurant in Leeds having acquired the former Flannels unit on Vicar Lane.

Glasgow and Leeds will be the first new openings under the group’s core brand since Dishoom Battersea launched in 2023.

More recently the group has been focused on its more bar-led spin-off brand, Permit Room, which now has sites in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford and will soon make its London debut in Notting Hill.

In total, Dishoom’s estate currently encompasses 10 restaurants under its core brand including several sites in London and regional locations in Manchester and Birmingham.

The group is also currently looking to break into the US market with an outpost in New York mooted to potentially open next year.
