The brand will make its international debut on Bethnal Green Road in Shoreditch next month, its fifth location overall and first outside of Paris.
Founded in 2019 by Charles Ganem and Samuel Nataf, Dumbo is known for its stylised, minimalistic approach and claims to have pioneered the smash burger in Europe.
Its tight menu features a cheeseburger made from meat from butcher HG Walter, and a vegetarian ‘earth’ burger as well as twice cooked french fries and some chicken nuggets.
“Our philosophy has always been simple: great ingredients, no fuss, and food that brings people together,” says Ganem.
“We’re excited to join the London food scene, especially at a time when smash burgers are experiencing such incredible momentum in the city.”

Dumbo’s arrival in London follows that of French brand Junk, which made its UK debut in London last year, and comes at a time of a growing appetite for smash burgers across the UK.
The brand’s aesthetic also chimes with that of recent entrants such as Supernova, with its stripped back utilitarian design of a muted white colour palette and clean tones said to pay homage to the ‘understated timelessness of function’, drawing inspiration from t traditional London cafes and bagel shops.
The Shoreditch site will have a serving hatch onto the street and customers can also enjoy their burgers in a covered garden tucked away at the rear of the space.
Dumbo currently operates four Paris restaurants, in Petites Écuries, Pigalle, the Marais, and Oberkampf and sells a large range of t-shirt merchandise. The brand has also collaborated with restaurants including Septime and at events for Virgil Abloh, Nike, Jacquemus, Beyoncé, and the Cannes Film Festival.
Ganem and Nataf say they have sights on international expansion for the brand and have joined forces with culinary studio WE ARE ONA to roll out across the world, with London as its first stop.
