Saxton confirmed his departure from the high-end department store in a LinkedIn post, adding that he would be sharing information about his ‘next adventure’ in the near future.
During his time at Harrods, Saxton opened more than 36 restaurants in store and around the world.
“We have taken Harrods from an unknown restaurant entity to the biggest single site F&B operation in Europe, [and] housed more culinary names than any other destination across the continent,” he said.
“Harrods is now and forever will be an authority in hospitality.”
Among the chefs to have taken up residency at Harrods during Saxton’s tenure are Gordon Ramsay, Tom Kerridge , Jason Atherton and Björn Frantzén, although the latter two have subsequently closed their outposts.
Saxton credited the leadership in the store and its owners, the Qatar Investment Authority, for their support.
“I will be forever grateful for in backing my vision from the beginning,” he added.
“I look forward to sharing news of my next adventure starting shortly, though I will be forever a Harrodian at heart.”
Saxton joined Harrods in 2019 from international luxury hotel group Langham Hospitality.
Having started his career in hospitality at 14 as a pot washer for a hotel close to Nottingham, he went on to develop a strong track record in delivering high-end F&B projects including as part of the launch team for Dubai’s lavish marine-themed resort Atlantis, The Palm.
