Elliot Emery has been promoted to the role of head chef at Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall.

Emery, who was previously senior sous chef at the fine-dining restaurant within north Yorkshire’s five-star Grantley Hall, will work alongside chef-patron Shaun Rankin to lead the Michelin-starred restaurant as it marks its sixth anniversary this July.

Emery joined the Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall in March 2024 and now leads the brigade in evolving the restaurant’s Taste of Home tasting menu, which champions seasonal, sustainable, and solely British produce.

Originally from the Midlands, he began his career at The Stagg Inn in Herefordshire under chef Steve Reynolds. He later moved to London to take on roles at Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House and Ollie Dabbous’ Michelin-starred Hide Above, where he rose to chef de partie.

He also worked at two Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains, spending four years working across all kitchen sections before becoming senior chef de partie.

“It’s a really exciting time for the team, and for me personally,” he says. “We’re evolving the menu with ambitious goals for the restaurant, and I feel incredibly proud to be leading such a talented and supportive brigade in one of the most prestigious kitchens in the country.”

Rankin adds: “Elliot is an outstanding chef with a brilliant attitude and a deep understanding of flavour and technique. I have every confidence that he’ll help take the restaurant to new heights.”
