The Hoxton in Edinburgh is getting a new Italian restaurant next month.

Opening on 1 July, Patatino is described as a modern Italian restaurant inspired by the traditional trattorias and lemon grove-lined streets of Sorrento and will serve hearty, Italian dishes using local Scottish produce.

Taking its name from an Italian term of endearment - literally ‘little potato’ - Patatino’s menu will include antipasti, house-made pastas, sourdough pizzas, meat and seafood cooked over hot coals in the Josper - and classic Italian desserts.

Menu highlights will include starters of deep-fried spaghetti squares with tomato and spicy basil pesto; and arancini with slow-cooked brisket, pea and smoked tomato and charcoal focaccia, while pastas will include linguine with shellfish bisque, Eyemouth crab and Amalfi lemon; and bucatini cacio e pepe (main image), as well as sourdough pizzas topped with Scottish buffalo mozzarella, tomato and basil pesto; and ‘nduja, haggis, jalapeño, hot honey and fior di latte.

A traditional Tiramisù, made to a recipe shared by the Hoxton’s chef in Florence and Rome, and a panettone pudding, an Italian take on a bread and butter pudding will appear on the desserts section.

The accompanying drinks list will offers spins on quintessential Italian cocktails, including spritzes and negronis that will be finished table side with a choice of peach, strawberry or Amalfi lemon mist garnishes.

There will also be a signature selection of ‘Made in Italia’ cocktails created for Patatino by The Hoxton’s bar teams in Rome and Florence, including a Pata-tini made with gin, Cocchi Rosa and RinQuinQuin, and the Solemn Pomace with strawberry-infused grappa, lime and sugar.

The wine list will be all Italian and split by region.

The restaurant will be accessible via the hotel lobby and have its own dedicated street entrance in the style of an Italian trattoria with a scalloped striped awning and florals. Inside, the design draws inspiration from a classic trattoria but through a modern lens with hot pink accents and dramatic lighting.

In the centre of the room will be a small Baroque-style Italian fountain surrounded by blue velvet banquettes, navy leather, and dark-stained timber. There will also be trellised columns, and green corduroy booths.
