Camden restaurant Mr Ji will close next month after almost three years of trading.

The restaurant, which opened in October 2022, has announced that its last service will be 5 July.

A message on its website reads: “We are sorry to say we are closing our doors. With the ongoing rises in business costs and running a restaurant. We have now joined the many restaurants that have now closed their doors. It’s with a heavy heart we give you this news. We were so glad to meet you all and we will miss you.”

Mr Ji was launched in late 2019 by Samuel Haim a grab-and-go fried chicken concept on Soho’s Old Compton Street but relaunched as a full-service restaurant with a menu overseen by TĀ TĀ Eatery’s Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng in 2021.

It is known for its Taiwanese fried chicken made with a 13 spice marinade as well as dishes including wagyu fat fried rice; and smashed duck leg served with a roti paratha and a creative cocktail list that featured drinks such as the salt plum negroni; plum wine spritz; and lime leaf margarita.

In 2022 the Soho restaurant closed, with the restaurant relocating its team to its Camden site.
