A second site has opened inside the new KERB Berlin food hall at Potsdamer Platz, joining the original venue, which launched within KERB’s Seven Dial’s Market in 2019.
A third Pick & Cheese will open in Camden, north London, later this month.
The 38-cover Berlin restaurant features a 40-meter conveyor belt that spans the dining room and on which sits an ever-changing selection of artisanal cheeses. The menu includes more 20 varieties of German cheese from small farms and producers, paired with condiments, with options including Deichkäse by Backensholz with sauerkraut; and Berliner Blau by Urstrom Käse served with rose Turkish delight.
The launch will be followed later this month by the opening of Pick & Cheese Camden, which is taking on the site of Carver’s The Cheese Bar restaurant in Camden Stables Market.
The Camden restaurant will have an 18-metre-long conveyor belt that will serve a changing menu of British cheeses and will also offer an off-belt menu centred on grilled cheese sandwiches in options such as Keen’s Clothbound cheddar, Ogleshield and onion; Cropwell Bishop Stilton, bacon and pear chutney; and La Latteria mozzarella and hot honey, as well as a whole baked Baron Bigod.
To finish, scoops of gelato made using fresh local British cheeses, including one with Rosary goats cheese, honey and rosemary served with a shot of Jurancon, will be available for dessert.
“We opened Pick & Cheese in Covent Garden because we wanted to make British cheese more fun, accessible and exciting and the response to it has been incredible,” says Carver.
“Six years on, I’m excited to introduce the concept to Camden and continue championing the amazing work of British cheesemakers across the country.”
The Camden restaurant will also offer bottomless cheese and charcuterie plates on Wednesdays where diners can have unlimited dishes for one hour and 15 minutes for £29.50 per person.
