Speaking to Yahoo! Finance, Alessandro Savelli, who originally launched the premium pasta brand back in 2016, said he believed Pasta Evangelists could become a dominant name in the Italian restaurant space.
“The future is the USA,” he said.
“It’s the biggest market for Italian food and pasta, number one for restaurants and is our priority for the future.
“For some reason, Italian cuisine does not have an owner in the restaurant space, and I think Pasta Evangelists will become this brand.”
Pasta Evangelists started out life as a delivery-only concept and moved into the restaurant space in 2021 with a site in Harrods Dining Hall in London.
The brand was bought by the Barilla Group the same year and subsequently added a further four restaurants to its portfolio in Chiswick, Greenwich, Richmond, and Manchester Airport.
Earlier this year, the group revealed that it was accelerating the growth of its restaurant estate with plans to open 10 new locations by the end of the year.
Speaking back in February, brand director Ebru Bircan said: “Pasta Evangelists is a true omnichannel business, proving that a food brand can thrive across multiple sectors – e-retail, delivery, dine-in and experiential.
“In 2025, we are focusing heavily on expanding our restaurant portfolio while continuing to invest in our takeaway business, with new locations coming soon. This year is all about restaurant growth.”
Alongside the US, the group has also previously said it is exploring international growth opportunities in France, the Middle East and China.
