The new bakery will be located on Churchfield Road in Acton and builds on the success of Layla’s flagship on Portobello Road in Ladbroke Grove.
Opening in September, the Acton site will offer a more intimate experience than at the original and has been designed primarily as a takeaway spot, although it will have a four bar stools inside and a couple of benches outside.
Layla was opened by Tessa Faulkner in 2021 and has become known for its pastries, tarts and sourdough that have led it gain a loyal following on social media and regular queues outside its doors.
Sweet options available at its Ladbroke Grove site include cardamom buns; miso knots; burnt honey tart; raspberry and pistachio Victoria sponge; peach and mascarpone olive oil cake; carrot and walnut cake; banana tahini loaf; and chocolate chip cookies alongside savoury items such as sausage rolls; BLTs; miso mushroom sandwiches; and Caprese sandwiches.
“Friends who’ve moved to the area often say Acton is missing a neighbourhood spot like Layla,” says Faulkner.
“We’re excited to bring the same quality and care that’s made us a favourite in Ladbroke Grove to the Acton community.”
Colton Dinner, who is currently head baker at the Ladbroke Grove bakery, will step into the role as executive baker across both sites. The concise Acton menu will mirror the flagship’s most-loved offerings, with a few exclusive additions for local customers.
Layla Bakery Acton will open on 4 September.
