Ninai Zarach, the restaurateur behind Italian restaurants Manicomio and Canto Corvino, is opening an all-day restaurant in the City.

Campanelle will be located within a Grade II listed building on Billiter Street that was originally home to The London Shipping Exchange in the 1800s and is inspired by the famous saying that ‘all roads lead to Rome’.

The 180-cover takes its name from the Italian that translates as ‘little bells’ in English and also the bell flower shaped pasta, which will be found on the restaurant’s menu.

The menu will be overseen by executive chef Fausto Rojas and will reflect Zarach’s extensive travels across Italy, with a breakfast offer that will include classics such as eggs benedict with prosciutto di parma; and egg yolk omelette with mushrooms and spinach.

The lunch menu will begin with snacks including house-made focaccia Romana; grilled artichokes; and panino classico di spalla cotta. Antipasti dishes of Portland crab salad, celeriac and salty fingers; langoustine arancini will be followed by a selection of pastas that will include a signature carbonara. Sharing dishes, meanwhile, will include a 45-day dry-aged beef ribeye with summer truffle, and a salt crusted wild sea bass that will be cracked open table side.

The wine list will major on Italian wines while the bar menu will include classic Italian serves, including Sharona, Negroni Bianco and Nutty Velvet.

The restaurant will occupy two floors and feature the building’s original 18th Century oak staircase as well as a bespoke marble bar and a wine room. The seating will be spread between the two floors, with the 80-cover first floor dining room also home to a 26 seater private dining room. There will also be a 44-cover all-weather terrace, where guests can dine ‘al fresco’ throughout the year.

“We are delighted to be bringing the wonders of Italy to the heart of London,” says Zarach.

“The area is vibrant and filled with such an incredible history, and we cannot wait to be part of its community and welcome our guests in.

“Italy has a charm and spirit to it which is unmatched, with such an abundance of beautiful produce and ingredients too, and we are looking forward to bringing these flavours to our guests, old and new.”

Campanelle will open on 24 July.
