Tasting menu restaurant Six by Nico says it is aiming to build ‘the largest and most active culinary community in the UK and beyond’ through a new crowdfunded membership.

The brand is to launch a ‘community-first’ crowdfund campaign next month that will invite customers to become part of a closed circle of investors and give them the opportunity to help shape the next stage of the restaurant group’s development.

It says the strategy will give its customers ‘more control’ and ‘empower them to influence the company’s future rather than relying on private investors’.

Six by Nico was founded by restaurateur Nico Simeone in Finnieston, Glasgow in 2017 and now operates 16 sites across the UK as well as an outpost in Dublin, Ireland.

The concept revolves around a six-course tasting menu that changes every six weeks and is themed around different places, memories and ideas.

“Six by Nico was built by the people who kept coming back not once, not twice, but again and again,” says Simeone.

“We’re talking about a core community of tens of thousands of loyal guests who dine regularly every year.

“This isn’t just a customer base – it’s a community. And now, it’s time to bring them even closer. Because the next chapter isn’t just ours – it’s theirs too.”

Six by Nico is yet to confirm how much it is looking to raise, but customers will be able to explore the group’s business ideas and find out how to become shareholders by registering their interest via its website.

Plans for the future include to open new restaurants both domestically and internationally, beginning with a new flagship location in London’s Covent Garden that’s set to launch in the coming months.

“Every brand reaches a moment of choice,” Simeone continues.

“We’ve had an incredible journey so far but what’s next is even more exciting. We’re evolving, expanding, and reimagining what Six by Nico can be. And we want the people who helped build it - our customers to help shape what comes next.

“This is a new chapter. A new way to raise capital – with our community at the centre.

“We’re inviting the people who helped build this to invest in what comes next. Not just a seat at the table – but a voice in the vision and a share in what we are building.”

Sixco, parent company of Six by Nico, reported a 42% rise in turnover in its 2024 financial results with EBITDA up 74%.

The group’s pre-tax profit from continuing operations was £3.3m for the year ended 30 June 2024 (2023: £2.8m), while the total pre-tax profit including exception items and discontinued operations was £1.3m (2023: loss of £185,000).

Sixco’s estate also includes immersive cocktail bar concept Somewhere by Nico, which now has sites in Glasgow in Edinburgh.
