Park Chinois, the high-end Chinese restaurant founded by Alan Yau in London’s Mayfair, has appointed administrators.

According to documents filed at Companies House, Philip Armstong of FRP Advisory has been appointed administrator of the business.

It is unclear what this means for the business, and whether the restaurant will be sold to a new or connected party.

Park Chinois is part of Island Hospitality, run by Sofija Mehta, whose portfolio includes Chinese pub-restaurant brand The Duck & Rice, also founded by Alan Yau, and The Dover, a New York Italian restaurant and bar in Mayfair.

In Ibiza, the group runs a night-club spin-off, Chinois Ibiza and Beachouse Ibiza.

It is not thought any other businesses in the group are affected.

In its most recent accounts, covering the period to March 2023, Park Chinois directors said the business was struggling with inflationary pressures in its supply chain, rising utilities cots and labour shortages.

The accounts outlined plans to take the globally recognised brand to prominent cities around the world.

Profit after tax was £53,000, after a loss of £1.39m in 2022.

Founded in 2015, Park Chinois takes a similar approach to another Yau-founded concept Hakkasan by blending opulent décor, refined Chinese food, and club-style entertainment.

Yau is no longer involved in Park Chinois.

Restaurant has contacted FRP Advisory and Park Chinois for comment.
