The Charlotte Street restaurant, which is owned by group MJMK, will have its last service on 23 August before it closes. Full details of the changes will be announced later this week.
Posting on Instagram, the restaurant says: “After nearly four wonderful years, we will be embarking on the next chapter of our story on Charlotte Street,” adding that it is preparing to “transform the restaurant into a brand-new dining experience”.
Set across three floors, Lisboeta opened in Marylebone in 2022 and is described as Mendes’ love letter to Portugal. The restaurant was named One to Watch at the 2022 National Restaurant Awards and is currently ranked at number 93 in the list of the UK’s Top 100 Restaurants.
The move comes as part of a shakeup of MJMK’s Portuguese restaurant portfolio. Last month its Portuguese restaurant brand Casa do Frango began what it also described as a ‘new chapter’ with a refreshed menu and design created to extend the restaurant’s reach beyond its Algarvian roots.
A number of sharing dishes have been added to the menu, which previously had a strong focus on piri piri chicken, including petisco of beef seared with garlic served with house pickles; Cornish lamb chops; grilled sea bass; and beef skewers.
