Adam Simmonds’ restaurant within The Megaro Hotel in King’s Cross has closed with immediate effect less than a year after its launch.

Voyage with Adam Simmonds has permanently close its doors today (21 August) with the hotel citing poor trading as well as a tough economic environment as the reason.

In a statement the hotel says: “This decision has been made in light of the challenging economic climate and disappointing trading performance, which have made the operation unsustainable.

“The team would like to thank all guests, partners, and supporters for their patronage and encouragement throughout Voyage’s journey.”

Simmonds opened the restaurant, which was described as a an ‘intimate narrative’ of former Danesfield House and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons Simmonds’ personal evolution, in late January.

The restaurant had a Scandinavian inspired menu promised ‘captivating tastes, bold flavours and delightful textures, all underpinned by impeccable service’.

Dishes included oysters with fermented apple and white asparagus; celeriac, yeast, oakmoss and walnut; venison with ember-roasted beetroot, blackberry vinegar and thyme crumb; and roasted koji barley ice cream served with hazelnut milk and sobacha.

The hotel’s all-day dining Italian restaurant Spagnoletti remains open.

The hotel says that details of the future development of the restaurant space will be shared in due course.
