First opening its doors on Grosvenor Square in 2022, KOYN serves Japanese cuisine in an izakaya dining style. It originally launched as a two-floor restaurant, but its downstairs dining room was converted into Thai restaurant KOYN Thai in 2024.
KOYN will have its last service on 27 September.
The menu at KOYN is overseen by executive chef Rhys Cattermoul, whose upcoming move to Australia with his family has been cited as the reason for the closure.
Cattermoul has been an integral part of KOYN’s journey and the collaboration marks a natural, if heavy-hearted end to the restaurant’s journey, says the restaurant group.
“It has been a pleasure bringing the authentic flavours of Japan and Thailand to KOYN at Grosvenor Square,” says Nair.
“Working with Rhys has been an incredible journey. For me, his departure marks the end of an adventure, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at KOYN and KOYN Thai.”
The closure means that restaurant group LSL Capital will relocate KOYN Thai, which Nair opened in collaboration with Bangkok-born chef Rose Chalalai Singh.
Next year, KOYN Thai will reopen in a new location in Mayfair, with further details to be announced in the coming months.
“With one chapter closing, we’re excited to bring KOYN Thai back soon to a new home,” adds Nair.
LSLCapital operates a number of restaurants in the capital, including Jamavar, Nipotina, Bombay Bustle, and MiMi Mei Fair.
