Bakery chain Greggs has opened a pub that serves pastry-inspired drinks as well as range of traditional pub classics with a bakery twist.

Called The Golden Flake Tavern, the pub is located within the Fenwick Newcastle department store and serves Pink Jammie IPA on draught as well as cocktails such as the Pink Jammie Fizz and Spiced Caramel Doughnut Old Fashioned.

Food options include a chicken bake parmo; ploughman’s platter; steak bake mixed grill; mac & cheese bites with pesto dressing; sausage roll and mash; and southern fried chicken goujons with Korean mayonnaise.

The pub also serves a Sunday carvery menu giving customers the option of either a steak, chicken, or cheese and onion bake served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, and gravy

Desserts, meanwhile, include a pink jammie trifle and yum yum bread and butter pudding.

This pub, which is set to open until mid-February, is the latest collaboration between Greggs and department store Fenwick, and follows on from Bistro Greggs in December 2023 and the Greggs Champagne Bar in 2024, where 8,000 guests had a sausage roll paired with a glass of champagne during the nine-week experience.

“Following the reaction and success of our previous collaborations with Fenwick – Bistro by Greggs in 2023 and Greggs Champaign Bar last year – we’re thrilled to be launching our third landmark venture together,” says Greggs customer director Hannah Squirrell.

“The Golden Flake Tavern brings a fresh twist to the traditional pub experience, and we hope everyone who joined us before, along with many new faces, will come along to enjoy this unique Greggs experience.”
