Rosi

After years of dazzling diners at Northcote in Lancashire, Lisa Goodwin-Allen makes her London debut this month having been appointed culinary director at The Beaumont Mayfair earlier this year. Opening on 1 October in the space that previously housed The Colony Grill, Rosi will be ‘rooted in seasonality and British provenance’ with the menu set to feature signature pies and high-quality steaks including cuts of English wagyu, Lake District beef and heritage Hereford herds. Leading the restaurant alongside Goodwin-Allen will be executive chef Brendan Fyldes and executive head chef Jozef Rogulski. The concept and team have been brought together by The Beaumont’s CEO, Stuart Procter, whose career has overlapped at various points with Goodwin-Allen and Fyldes, including at Northcote where Goodwin-Allen continues to serve as chef patron-director.

Freak Momma

It’s all change at Freak Scene in London’s Parsons Green, with chef-restaurateur Scott Hallsworth relaunching the site as a ‘louder, messier’ concept. Called Freak Momma, the new restaurant is billed as a Japanese ‘superdiner’ serving a menu of ‘Japanese tapas, burgers, fried chicken and chaos’. Inspired by the Sonic Youth album Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, Freak Momma will have a grungier style than Freak Scene and will be ‘absolutely not traditional’, according to Hallsworth, who says that he has been planning the change for a while.
