Wendy’s UK has reported a rise in turnover after bolstering its company-owned restaurant estate.

The UK arm of the US burger giant saw turnover in 2024 rise to £33.9m, up from £31.9m the previous year.

The company recorded a profit before tax of £1.9m for the period, compared to £2m in 2023, while gross profits increased by £1.1m to £9.6m, primarily due to improved margins at company-operated sites as well as higher advertising income, it says.

Wendy’s UK ended the year with 13 company-owned restaurants, with franchised stores comprising the remainder of its 50-strong estate.

The company, which has a target of reaching 150 sites across Europe by 2028 and 2,000 internationally, recently opened restaurants in Wirral, Blackpool, York, Southampton, Lakeside, and Spalding.

A site in Glasgow is also due to open soon.
