Hawksmoor is taking over the former Midland Grand Dining Room at the St Pancras Renaissance hotel for what will be its 14th restaurant across the UK, Ireland and the US.

The steakhouse group is taking on the space in the Grade I listed building designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott following the sudden closure of Victor Garvey at The Midland Grand in July,

The 95-cover restaurant, located within London St Pancras railway station, will have a private dining room and chef’s table. Alongside the restaurant, Hawksmoor will also take on the building’s adjacent bar – a decorative, high-ceilinged space with an outdoor terrace, and DJ stage - that will be named The Martini Bar.

“There are very few buildings that Huw and I have always spoken about as dream Hawksmoors, and this is one,” says co-founder Will Beckett (pictured).

“As we approach the 20th anniversary of our first Hawksmoor restaurant, it feels perfect to be able to bring everything we’ve learned in London and beyond back to one of the most dramatic and gorgeous buildings in our hometown. Hopefully London will continue to feel as proud of Hawksmoor as we have always felt of London.”

The restaurant will be Hawksmoor’s eighth location in the capital and its 11th restaurant in the UK.

“I’ve always loved working with incredible architectural heritage, and there are no finer buildings around,” adds co-founder Huw Gott.

“This feels perfect. It’s historic and full of life, a place where London and the world pass through every day. And what a history, and physical presence these spaces have – it’s incredibly exciting to have a setting like this for our newest Hawksmoor, and we’re loving thinking about what will go on the menu and drinks lists.”

The restaurant is due to open in late November.
