Charlene Liu and Linda Liu, who run Liu Xiaomian restaurant in Soho as well as a residency within The Jackalope pub in Marylebone, are once again joining forces with Bloomsbury Leisure Group, for their latest residency, which will kick-off on 14 November.
The menu will feature the brand’s signature dishes: Chongqing xiaomian (wheat noodles); and hot and sour glass noodles with flavours such as minced pork and chickpea; spicy beef; and spicy pig trotter alongside pork wontons, and seasonal sides. Each dish comes with homemade chilli oil.
Recently opened pub The Stranded has seats for around 300 guests and will feature a dedicated 20-cover Liu Xiaomian dining area. It is currently home to kitchen residency Gyoza Paradox.

“We’ve loved working with the team behind The Jackalope, and The Stranded feels like the perfect next step,” says Charlene Liu. “It’s a stylish new pub with vast amounts of seating in central London, perfect for everyone visiting The Strand this winter. We are really excited to get this pop-up off the ground and hit the ground running.”
“Our noodles have always been about comfort, fresh ingredients, and a menu that’s accessible to everyone,” adds Linda Liu. “We offer a range of dishes with varying spice levels, customers often find it funny that I personally go for the mild option, while Charlene opts for extra hot! That’s the beauty of our bowls: something for everyone, bold, vibrant, and made to share.
“The Stranded gives us the chance to welcome even more Londoners into that experience this winter.”
Charlene Liu and Linda Liu are both from the same town in Chongqing, known as China’s spice capital, and were brought together by fate in London. Inspired by their shared roots, they launched Liu Xiaomian in 2017 as a small street-food stall.
This was followed by the launch of a pop-up-turned-residency within The Jackalope in 2019, which remains open today, and the opening of their debut restaurant Liu Xiaomian on the first floor of Soho’s Kingly Court in 2024.
