Sixty eight restaurants across the country have closed with immediate effect as well as 11 delivery sites according to FTI Consulting LLP, following its appointment as joint administrators of DC London Pie Limited, a franchise operator of Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants across the UK, delivery outlets and the master franchise for Pizza Hut dine-in operations in the Republic of Ireland.
The closures mean 1,210 jobs are affected, it adds.
Like many casual dining businesses, DC has been impacted by challenging trading conditions and increased costs. In addition, it faced material cash flow pressures as a result of tax-related obligations, according to the administrators.
Yesterday (20 October) Pizza Hut UK, the company behind Pizza Hut’s delivery business, bought the UK restaurant operation in a pre-pack administration deal, securing the future of 64 sites and safeguarding around 1,276 jobs, including some head office roles.
“This transaction provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands, securing the continuation of 64 Pizza Hut sites and importantly preserves 1,276 jobs,” says joint administrator Matt Callaghan.
“The joint administrators will continue to work with employees who have unfortunately been made redundant, to ensure they get the support needed.”
