OMNOM, the Islington-based vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurant and wellness charity, has chosen Birmingham for its second location.

Opening next month, the Midlands restaurant will be twice the size of London original and will serve a meat-free Indian menu as well as host music nights and community wellbeing events.

OMNOM Birmingham will have a 150-cover dining room, making it one of the UK’s largest meat-free Indian restaurants, and will also have a bar area, a conservatory and private dining space, meaning that in total it can accommodate up to 200 guests.

It will also house OMspace, a dedicated studio and event venue designed to host yoga, meditation, talks, workshops, and private events.

OMNOM opened in Islington in January 2022, having initially intended to open in late 2019.

“OMNOM began in Islington as an idea, to create a restaurant that feeds more than the body. We wanted to bring the timeless wisdom of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion, into a modern, accessible setting. To show that spirituality isn’t abstract, it’s something you can taste, feel, and live every day,” says OMNOM founder Yuvi Rana.

“Our new Birmingham home — at twice the size of our London flagship — will allow us to expand that vision. With our new OMspace for wellbeing events and yoga, a restaurant dedicated to compassionate cuisine, and a continued commitment to feeding children in need across the world, OMNOM Birmingham will be a celebration of amazing food, wellbeing events and community.

“Birmingham is a city full of life, heart, and creative spirit. We’re honoured to plant roots here and to invite everyone, whether you’re curious, spiritual, or just hungry to be part of this journey of food, love, and purpose.”

The restaurant’s menu is being created in collaboration with Namaste Village, an Indian vegetarian restaurant group with six sites across the UK in Norwich, Twickenham, Southend-on-Sea, Cambridge, and OMNOM Islington as well as the recently opened Namaste Village Oxford.

“OMNOM and Namaste Village share deeply aligned values, those of kindness, compassion, and seva, the spirit of service to humanity,” adds Namaste Village founder Vijay Jetani.

“As a charitable organisation dedicated to mindfulness and wellbeing, OMNOM embodies these ideals in every aspect of its work. Our collaboration through Namaste @ OMNOM has been a true reflection of these shared principles, blending conscious cuisine with mindful living.”

Registered charity OMNOM operates on the principle that for every meal served, a child in need is fed in a poorer part of the world. It partners with charities in the UK and India to provide free meals to those in need and to date has helped feed more than 5,000 children abroad and distribute more than 50,000 meals in London to those in need via charity Go Dharmic.
