Global burger brand Shake Shack is setting up in Manchester for its first northern England site.

The new opening will take up residence at the Trafford Centre next March and marks Shake Shack’s continued move beyond its predominantly London heartland.

It will be the group’s sixth regional site, joining its non-London restaurants in Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Gatwick and Cardiff.

Diners can expect to see Shack favourites including the Shackburger, crinkle-cut fries and flat-top dogs, accompanied by hand-spun shakes.

“Manchester’s a city that does things proper; it’s full of heart, graft and great taste,” says Richard Franks, business director at Shake Shack UK.

“We’re so pumped to be growing Shake Shack across the UK, and to be opening our first Northern Shack at the Trafford Centre. We can’t wait to be a part of this city.”

Kitty Vaughan, head of F&B and leisure leasing at Pradera Lateral, adds: “Shake Shack choosing Trafford Centre for its first-ever northern flagship restaurant is a powerful endorsement of our position as a leading retail and leisure destination.

“We’re committed to bringing standout international brands to Trafford Centre, and we’re confident that Shake Shack will be a major draw for visitors and a brilliant addition to our evolving food and beverage offer.”

Shake Shack currently has around 640 locations worldwide, with more than 400 restaurants in the US and 200 across international locations including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo and Seoul.
