The City of London Corporation (CoLC) is looking to transform Leadenhall Market into one of the Capital’s leading dining destinations.

Located in Gracechurch Street, Leadenhall is one of the oldest markets in London – dating back to the 14th century – and comprises 41 units, primarily occupied by retail and F&B operators.

CoLC is looking to position the market as a seven-day a week destination in order to drive footfall and sales and has appointed retail and leisure property agency P-Three to create a new leasing strategy that optimises the tenant mix to include popular lunchtime brands, premium wine bars and restaurants.

The move forms part of CoLC’s ‘Destination City’ programme, which is about turning the Square Mile into a ‘must-visit’ destination with a particular focus on driving weekend visitor numbers.

Chris Hayward, policy chairman of the City of London, says: “Leadenhall Market is one of the City of London’s most treasured landmarks, and this next phase of its evolution marks an exciting step in realising its full potential as a vibrant seven-day-a-week destination.”

Thomas Rose, co-founder at P-Three, added: “This mandate is an incredible opportunity for us to play our part in transforming an iconic landmark in the heart of London into the City’s leading dining destination.

“Leadenhall Market already benefits from high footfall and an extraordinary global profile, which will make it a highly sought after location for the world’s most exciting retail, leisure and F&B brands.”
