Italian restaurant Tortello will add to the capitals’ burgeoning pasta scene when it opens at Royal Lancaster London hotel in the new year.

Accessed either through the Hyde Park hotel or via Tortello’s own private street entrance, the restaurant will serve regional Italian dishes and hand-rolled pasta.

Dishes on the launch menu will include tortello di zucca - delica pumpkin tortelli served with brown butter, Modena balsamic and toasted Piedmont hazelnuts; beef shin and chianti tortello; seafood calamarata made with langoustine, Scottish clams, Dorset mussels and king prawns; and pici with mussels and cavolo nero.

Overlooking the Italian Gardens of Hyde Park, the 80-cover dining room will feature a hand-painted vineyard mural, a walkway lined with olive trees and aromatic herbs, and a pistachio-green 1960s Fiat 500.

The restaurant will open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
