Mitsu, which will take over the former Nobu site on Willow Street, is described as aiming to ‘capture the spirit of east Tokyo’s izakayas’ with an east London twist.
Last year, Nobu Hotel London quietly closed, reopening in October as Aethos London Shoreditch, with the replacement for the former Nobu restaurant not being announced until now.
The venue, unlike its former high‑end concept, is expected to deliver a livelier, more casual Shoreditch dining experience.
Although the full menu has not yet been released, the kitchen plans to focus on traditional Japanese techniques and dishes such as kushikatsu and kamameshi, along with shared robata plates grilled over Japanese charcoal.

The space itself is being redesigned to emulate Tokyo’s eastern districts and will include an open kitchen as well as an outdoor terrace leading into a Japanese garden.
Mitsu will be joining various other Japanese restaurants in Shoreditch, including Sanjugo Shoreditch, EDO Izakaya and - located just a couple of minutes’ walk away - Sumiya.
