The Government fund, which was first announced back in January under the former Labour government led by Keir Starmer, will be available for projects that include helping get new hospitality ventures off the ground, bringing vacant premises back into use, and supporting training programmes that help young people get their first jobs.
Pubs, restaurants and cafés are all expected to be able to benefit from the scheme.
Pubs in particular will gain from £3m of funding earmarked for £3m of support for Pub is The Hub, an independent non-profit organisation helping pubs in rural and deprived areas to diversify their services and activities.
This includes adding village stores, community cafes, play areas and arts and crafts activities to help pubs bring locals and families together and boost their footfall.
“This funding will back local businesses to grow, boost opportunities for people across the UK and support growth in every part of the country,” says Kate Dearden, minister for the future of work.
Jane O’Riordan, co-chair of the Hospitality Sector Council, adds: “The flexible funding will help support innovative projects that boost productivity and sustainability, create opportunities for young people and those furthest from the labour market, and deliver the shared priorities of the Hospitality Sector Council and the wider sector.”
