Entropy for sale as owners rue the city's lack of enthusiasm for cutting-edge cooking.

The former site of Entropy restaurant at 3 Dover Street in Leicester is on the market, and is open to offers for the freehold interest.

The three-storey restaurant, which is laid out over a total of 4,730sq.ft, is located in the city centre and has a "modern, openplan layout and good natural light", according to APB, the local chartered surveyors handling the sale.

James Phillips, partner at APB, commented, "The site is in an ideal location in the city centre, close to the redevelopment quarter and in the ongoing regeneration area."

He also added that because the site has been newly refurbished, a restaurauteur could walk in and "open up tomorrow".

Entropy opened in March 2004 and closed two weeks ago, despite having picked up several accolades, including Best Newcomer in the Which? Good Food Guide 2006 awards.

Owners Tom and Cassie Cockerill said, "Sadly, despite all this, commercial reasons are forcing us to retire for the time being.

Perhaps Leicester is just not ready for us yet."

The couple said that they hope to open Entropy again at a later date in a new site, and added that their Entropy bar in Leicester's West End will remain open.
