A Michelin star-winning chef/proprietor has been lured back into the kitchen after a three-year career break. Phil Storey gained a star at the Old Chesil Rectory restaurant in Winchester in 2000 and retained it until selling up in 2004. He then left the restaurant industry to spend three years working as a lecturer in catering colleges.
Now he has teamed up with publican David Nicholson at a new venture, the Black Rat, due to open this spring in the 18th century Kings Arms in Winchester.
Storey said, "It feels really good to be back in the kitchen. It is a bit of a shock and hard physically, but it is great fun."
