Counting down to S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best 2009
The world’s top chefs and restaurateurs will come together in London in just 10 days time to find out where their restaurant is ranked in this year’s S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best list.
Ferran Adria (pictured), whose restaurant El Bulli was voted number one in 2008, Joel Robuchon and Victor Arguinzo are among those who will be gathering at the Freemason’s Hall on April 20 to hear the first reading of Restaurant magazine’s eighth list.
Also being revealed on the night will be winners of a host of awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Chef’s Choice Award.
The list is compiled by the Nespresso World`s 50 Best Academy, a group of 837 restaurant experts, from 26 regions in the world for Restaurant magazine.
Each academy member votes for five restaurants they have visited in the last 18 months, with only two of them in their own region.
Each year the results of the voting provoke much debate and controversy, but always attract interest from both inside and outside the industry.
Rebecca White, head of marketing at Nestle Waters UK, said: “The public looks to the awards as an indicator of dining excellence and as lead sponsor, awareness of S. Pellegrino as the fine dining water peaks around this time thanks to the wealth of publicity the awards generate.”
Entry to the event is invite-only but BigHospitality will be reporting live from the event and will be posting the results on the site as soon as they are announced, so be sure to log on from 8pm on April 20 to find out who`s made this year`s list.
We’ll also be sending out Tweets from the event via our Twitter account, so if you haven`t already, register as a follower now to keep up to date on the latest.
