Futura Foods launches foodservice range of Greek cheeses

Specialty cheese importer Futura Foods has made its Yamas! range of Greek specialty cheeses available to restaurants and foodservice buyers for the first time.

Product details:

The Gloucestershire-based importer's range of five cheese products includes sought-after cheeses which have not previously been widely available to hospitality business.

Futura Foods has said it hopes the better availability of traditional cheeses will lead to an increase of awareness in authentic Greek cuisine

The cheeses are:

  • Mild Feta – a light, tangy flavour cheese made from 100 per cent sheep milk.
  • Smoked Greek Cheese – a smoky cheese made from authentic Feta.
  • Halloumi Burger Slices – a vegetarian alternative or a cheese to add to a burger.
  • Saganaki – a rich, salty cheese, which is good for frying.
  • Feta Cubes – cubed traditional Feta in a resealable tub.

USP:

Until now, certain Greek speciality cheeses like saganaki were only available by dealing directly with Greece-based suppliers. However they are now available from a UK importer.

Availability:

All the cheeses in the range are now available in larger packs designed for foodservice buyers.

Futura Foods is currently in discussions with a number of national foodservice suppliers - full details on stockists are available by contacting the importer direct.

Price:

Price will differ depending on the size and type of the order - contact Futura Foods for more information.

Why should you buy it?

John Steele, national account controller for foodservice at Futura Foods, said: “Our Yamas! range of cheeses has been doing well in stores, and we’d already been approached by several customers that wanted to use the Saganaki cheeses but had been unable to find a reliable supplier.

"Foodservice operators will be able to use these real high-quality Greek cheeses to provide a true Greek experience for their customers.”
