Thermometer manufacturer ETI has released a new backlit version of its Thermapen to allow caterers to cook safely during the summer's outside events, even those held in the evening or when light is poor.

Product details:

The West Sussex-based firm, which has been manufacturing thermometers since 1983, has launched a new version of its SuperFast Thermapen which features a low-light sensor that automatically illuminates the digital display when ambient light is low.

Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI) has been supplying the Thermapen to chefs for a number of years - it features a fine, stainless steel, foldaway probe which doesn't damage the look of the food but can still be used to monitor dishes that need careful temperature control or to know nearly instantly if a product is perfectly cooked.

USP:

Each Thermapen, which is available in 10 colours, is lightweight and water resistant and comes with a calibration certificate and a two-year guarantee.

The casing of the Thermapen is washable and includes an additive that reduces bacterial growth. The rubber seal also minimises the risk of the ingress of water, dust or food.

Availability:

All ETI's products are available direct from the company's website.

Price:

The SuperFast Thermapen costs £48 (plus VAT), the Backlit Thermapen is £56 (plus VAT) and a zip up belt pouch costs £6 (plus VAT).

Why should you buy it?

A statement released by ETI said: "Outdoor catering, such as BBQs and hog roasts, present a slightly different set of challenges with equipment that may not cook quite as evenly or as predictably as the kitchen.

"Thermapen’s fine, stainless steel, foldaway probe won’t damage the look of your food, whilst allowing you to check it thoroughly and ensure that everything’s safely cooked through."
